The Trip Home

I returned home last evening from my trip to Fargo. I geared up with a great cup of Caribou Latte. (Oh, I wish Caribou Coffee was still in Omaha!) Look closely at the napkin in the photo. It shows what I was expecting. The roads could have been icy and snow covered, but luckily they were not. This was my first time to take my car to Fargo. It is a challenge on snow and ice. The trip took the usual 5 1/2 hours. Not too bad.

I enjoyed myself with Brittany. We weren't too ambitious for things to do, but was more to spend time together. That in itself is pretty special. We did find a great buy for a side table to her chair. It is a garden stool and at 75% off at Target, how can it get any better (other than free!) ?

Here she is by a store sign with her name displayed. Luckily for me she was willing to pose. Sometimes you have to do nutty things. We tried on clothes at Macy's as well, but nothing there to show off. Funny how when you want to try things like that, there isn't much to see and visa-versa.
We visited with my sister, Kristi and her family as well. My parents came through Fargo on their way back to Cavalier from their winter travels. Good to see them all.

We awoke on Sunday to the most beautiful frost covering every tree, sign, fence, etc in sight. I took this photo in the St. John's parking lot and by the time church was finished, most of the frost from earlier was gone. Beautiful while it lasted though. I think it is so beautiful when the frost falls off the trees in large pieces, all the while glistening in the sun. Sometime I want to try and capture that in a photo.

This was how Lois was positioned when I left. It is her favorite spot and great for watching the traffic. She should really like it come summer with all the pedestrians and dog-walkers and bicyclists. Don't you wonder what is in a cats mind when they see things.

I had my last doctor visit for my foot. He gave me a clean bill of health and said he wouldn't need to see me anymore unless I had some problem that came up, namely irritation from the screw where the bone was cut. He also said (and this is the BEST part) that I can wear regular shoes. YEAH!!! No more ugly, ugly tennis shoes. My intention is not to go straight into spikes. I don't really do those anyway. But what will be nice is a shoe that doesn't leave my pants dragging in the dirt and snow. We talked a little golf and he said to not wear any high-heeled golf shoes either. His attempt at humor I guess. Funny? Well, he is a doctor, not a comedian, but I appreciate the gesture anyway.
And the best is that tomorrow night, Ken gets back from Florida. He has been gone nearly a week. I am not used to that anymore. I have missed him.
