Busy weekend!
It is snowing outside. I know I am ready for Winter to give into Spring. Soon, it will have no choice, like we have no choice but to weather it out.
We had a busy weekend. We were in Minneapolis and have family there. We saw
our neices playing soccer and basketball. It brought a lot of memories back in how busy we were when our girls were very involved in sports. Thinking back, I am amazed at how we did it all. I think that once you are in the groove of it, you just do it, almost as a reflex or automatic pilot. When it is all done, you look at yourselves and wonder "now what are we going to do with all this time?" It is very strange at first, but you gradually get the hang of it. Now I can't immagine being that busy again. But one key is to really enjoy the moment you are in. There is good in that you are spending time with your children and they really are the most special thing in our world. All too soon, they are grown and off to school and their lives. You can never get back all that time with them.
This photo shows a str
eet sign that Brittany just had to have a photo of. With it being her cat's name I don't blame her! At least it wasn't too cold when we did it. She joined us there for the weekend. We don't get to see her as often as our other daughter, Janel because she lives further away. It is always good to spend time with your kids, no matter what the age! She and I met up at Ikea and spent considerable time there and only a little money. Fun store. Janel and I are going to take
a road trip in the Spring to get a few things for her apartment. We may have to take a larger vehicle just to haul the stuff back home! That will be a fun adventure in shopping. There are lots of places to "do damage!"
We got home in time for the Super Bowl game. Janel had a group of friends over. They are a fun bunch and very entertaining. This was her 3rd annual Super Bowl party. It's getting to be a tradition! It was a fun game to watch.
I recall many games being so lopsided that they are not as much fun to watch. At least the commercials help. I think I laughed the most at the one with the dancing lizards to "Thriller". Goofy.
Yesterday, I went to Dick Art Supplies and purchased lots of canvas. They have their sale going where you get larger discounts when you purchase larger numbers. What do you think I would do? I purchased 20! However, ten of them are 4 x 4". So I have a few projects to work on. Ken needs decor on his wall at work. Originally, I thought I would do a very large piece and now have changed it to be three canvases. I think I have it worked out in my head but am making sketches first. I usually don't rely too much on this technique as I have the tendency to change my mind, or at least the painting does this for me.
And, I finished reading the book, The Pillars of the Earth. I don't recall the last time I read a book that was 973 pages. When a book's characters are still in your mind after you have finished, you know it was a good read. And I am glad that we live in today's time, not medevial times.
