A little trip

I just returned from a somewhat unexpected trip to Washington, DC. Ken was there all last week for classes and it worked out for me to get there as well. I had some time to do a little shopping and some time to see one of my favorite museum hot spots.
I saw Julia Child's actual kitchen. It was dismantled and brought in from her home. Imagine seeing the pots and pans, the cookbooks, the stove and oven. It was nothing fancy really. But she was very organized and very efficient in how she had things set up. She also had a weekness for gadgets. I think that is a delight.

I almost could imagine the smells and sounds of the cooking that went on there. What an experience that would have been. I guess a lot of kitchens can be thought of and remembered that way. Take a grandmother's kitchen. They always seem to hold warm memories and bring you back to a simpler time.
Speaking of a simpler time, I always enjoy looking at the folk art display. This one pictured seems to say "Eat your vegetables" with the pose being held. By day's end at the museum, my feet told me that I had done a good job of covering a lot of sights. It was worth the trip until I can go again.

Bon Appetit!
