Pretty Colors
I enjoyed the art fair at the Countryside Village today. I got there before too many people could crowd me out. As I had hoped, there was some inspiration and a lot of color. It is a juried show so overall the quality was nice too.
Pictured is potter, Liz Robertson. She hand builds pottery that is most unusual. I had not seen anything like it. The photo below shows them a bit better. It reminds me of majolica pottery and has such luscious colors. She said it is very labor intensive to paint all the glazes.
She and her husband Rich are both potters at crickethillpottery.com in Asbury, IA. I didn't take a photo of his work, but also like it. His lines are clean and simple, almost oriental in feel. I may still have to go back tomorrow and purchase a beautiful piece.
I also purchased a lawn ornament piece. It is made of steel and glass. That makes for an interesting combination. The artist that made this one is Mary Anne Chisholm of Hot Flash Metals. Cool name and a cool lady. She told me about taking classes at the local community college. She is from Omaha and you can see more of her work at her site.
It was a pretty good day. The rain held off,and the sun was shining on all the pretty colors.
